HEIC to JPG Converter

Drop iPhone HEIC photos here and get JPGs back. The entire conversion runs in your browser — your photos never leave your device.

How it works

HEIC is the default photo format on modern iPhones (since iOS 11). Most non-Apple platforms cannot display it. The converter uses libheif compiled to WebAssembly to decode each HEIC into raw pixels, then re-encodes them as JPG at 92% quality — all locally in your browser. First conversion takes a few extra seconds while the decoder loads.

Frequently asked

Why is HEIC hard to open?
Apple introduced HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) in 2017 to save storage. It compresses about 50% smaller than JPG at the same quality, but Windows, Android, and many web tools still cannot display it natively. Converting to JPG fixes that.
Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?
A small amount — JPG is lossy. At 92% quality (the default here) the loss is invisible. If you keep the original HEIC on your phone, you have the lossless source for printing.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The entire conversion runs in your browser via WebAssembly. Your photos never leave your device. Disconnect from Wi-Fi mid-conversion and it will still finish.
Can I batch convert many HEIC files?
Yes. Drop a folder or select multiple files at once. Each is decoded and listed with its own download button.
Why is the first conversion slower?
The HEIC decoder is a 1 MB WebAssembly module. It loads once on first use, then subsequent conversions are fast.
