Milliliters to Grams Converter

Pick the ingredient, type ml, get grams. Water is 1:1; everything else has its own density.

Density: 0.53 g/ml. Powders and flours are approximate — measurements vary ±20% with sifting and packing.

How it works

Grams = ml × density (g/ml). For water the density is 1.00, so 100 ml = 100g exactly. For oil (0.92) the same 100 ml weighs only 92g. The converter looks up the right density for the ingredient you pick.

Frequently asked

Is ml the same as grams?
Only for water — 1 ml of water weighs exactly 1 gram (at 4°C). For any other ingredient you need its density.
How many grams in 100 ml of milk?
About 103g. Milk is slightly denser than water (~1.03 g/ml) because it contains dissolved sugars and proteins.
How many grams in 100 ml of oil?
About 92g. Vegetable and olive oils are less dense than water.
Why is 1 ml not always 1 gram?
The gram-millilitre identity only holds for water. Anything denser or less dense than water has a different weight per ml.
